Little Whipper Snappers
Little Whipper snapper!
Apparently I am a 5’ 10 Whipper Snapper!!
My name is Logan Pratt and I am 14 years old.
This summer was my first time driving a horse and carriage. We used my riding pony which I had long grown out of! She is about 13 years old, 11 HH and skewbald in colour. We had bought her at the Odd & Unusual Sale about 6 years ago. Not very well trained as we found out in my first dressage Competition with Francois where he came over to help and I think swore at her in French! Made her stand still though! I might have to get him to teach me a few of those words next time I see him.
After the supper at the Eagle Ridge Show I
helped Terry with the auction. That was a
lot of fun! He’s a funny guy and also gave
me a lesson the following day with Mustang.
Another great experience was being able to groom for Cindy and Adamas in the marathon. I was also allowed to drive around the camping field. He was fantastic to drive.
At the October fun drive I drove him again and Cindy gave me loads of tips. I am looking forward to driving again next year . I hope to take some lessons and attend some clinics with my mom. We also hope to have another pony trained . Her name is “Bids” or “Biddy” black in colour and about the same height as Mustang. She is my “rescue pony” as I bought her at an auction , first time I bid on something! She was $110.) She was really skinny and shabby looking. We figured it was because she still had her foal on her which was looking great and bigger than its mom! Bids looks great now after a summer on good grass and we have begun training her with long reins. She under-stands the basics and we would like to bring her to the “bomb proofing Clinic” before we put her to a cart.
When I’m not in school most of my time is spent doing school sports, I am on the volleyball, basketball and badminton teams. In the Spring I play soccer for Drumheller and Track and Field events like running and high jump.
Thanks to everyone who has helped us out this year and we hope to see you all next year.

We drive mostly at home but have driven in 3 combined driving events and have driven at the a couple of youth shows that offered a driving class. Tony loves to drive and the faster the
better. I have learned to drive from my Grandpa and my Mom. I did get a chance to drive Duchess belonging to Morris & Kathy Helmig for a lesson with Sterling Graburn last summer, where I did learn some new things. I look forward to driving more again in the spring.

last spring. I really like riding and driving and I just love to be around
horses! My horse’s name is Windy and he use to pull a cutter in the winter
so I’m hoping to get him driving again soon. This past summer I had driving lessons with Sterling using the Helmig’s pony, Duchess. It was a lot of fun!
